Thyroid question- reminder

Hi All,
Blessings for this time of thanks giving!
I have a question about tonics and cleansing process.
Kathryn can you remind me of what you said during the workshop about thyroid and managing a decrease in medication. You were speaking to Joni is I recall correctly.

Found out this morning that my thyroid which was over active with a certain amount of medication is now under balance with less medication. I am charting my next step to re-balance.

In other news. I helped Caleb(4 1/2) to dowse for herbs for his next tonic. Kathryn has been making them up until now. It was a neat experience. His yes and no are different from mine and I was teaching him how to hold the pendulum still to see what the response to a specific herb is. This is a challenge for little arms and hands. He had tasted a number of the herbs that were interesting to him.

I have never taught a little person to dowse before. Caleb's dowsing was corroborated by my own - for my own understanding and peace of Mommy-mind. His intention is that the tonic support his creativity and give him greater ease with responding to big emotions.

My husband is doing the same today. We may make their tonics tomorrow. In Divine Timing. Grateful for this unique and amazing opportunity.

Kylara,
I am not certain exactly what was shared in the tonic class about healing the thyroid. Joni--if you read this, please check your notes for any reference you might have!

The thyroid is an endocrine gland located in the neck. It controls how quickly the body uses energy; makes proteins; and controls how sensitive the body is to other hormones. It participates in these processes by producing thyroid hormones.

These hormones regulate the rate of metabolism and affect the growth and function of many other systems in the body. The thyroid also produces calcitonin, which plays a role in calcium homeostasis.

On a cellular level, the thyroid is composed of spherical follicles that selectively absorb iodine from the blood for production of thyroid hormones and for storage of iodine in thyroglobulin. Twenty-five percent of all the body's iodide ions are in the thyroid gland. Inside the follicles, colloid serves as a reservoir of materials for thyroid hormone production and acts as a reservoir for the hormones themselves.

The prevailing belief is that the only way to balance a thyroid that is under-producing is by taking synthesized thyroid hormones to replace what is not being produced. Nothing could be further from the truth!

I have had the great gift in life of helping three different people to regenerate their thyroid glands. It is a process that requires some commitment over time, yet the results are that one can be completely free of thyroid medication for life, even if they have been told that they must take thyroid meds for life.

Several key points in healing the thyroid are; providing herbal and dietary support, using a gradient system to ease off of thyroid medications over time, developing new skills to shift the emotional suppression that is a causal pattern in thyroid degeneration.

Herbal and Dietary Support
Iodine--the body needs this element for thyroid regeneration. The least effective source for this is refined iodized salt, and I do not recommend it. Instead, find a way to add kelp, dulse, and seaweed to your diet every day. You can powder it, saute it, soak it, and anything in between--find the way that it tastes good to you.

Milk and dairy foods contribute to the degeneration of the thyroid gland-as they are loaded with hormones which upset our own hormonal balance. Minimize these foods and use only certified organic dairy products to support healing.

Support thyroid healing by using essential oils such as Myrrh, Lady's mantle, or Labrador tea in a tonic or remedy. Also support the cellular regeneration of the gland by taking raw glandular thyroid, an animal product available in health food stores.

Most of all-eat a diet filled with vegetables, leafy greens, sprouts, nuts, seeds, and unrefined foods.

Easing Off Thyroid Meds
The most effective and permanent shift occurs when you can ease off meds over a period of around six months. This gives the thyroid lots of time to begin taking over its duties again, as it gradually regenerates and heals. You must pay attention to how your body is doing with every change in dosage, and be willing to slow down or speed up the progress as your body dictates. For most people, this is best undertaken with medical support. If your physician does not support your intention to become free of thyroid meds--find a new one! There are many out there who are genuinely interested in helping people heal.

New Skills in Communication
I recommend a book titled, "Feelings Buried Alive Never Die" to help with changing the way we process emotion. This is a key piece of the regeneration process for the thyroid.
