Busy, Busy, Busy....

I just wanted to check in with all of you.  It's a busy time of year for me, and I am sure many of you.  I wanted to say that although Kathryn said that it may take some time to notice a difference with these tonics, I notice.  I ran out of my tonic and had to go two days before making the next and I can feel a huge difference in my mind, body and spirit.  I am so grateful for the knowledge of creating them as I do not want to go another day without.  It's truly food for life.

Love and gratitude,
Michelle

Thyroid question- reminder

Hi All,
Blessings for this time of thanks giving!
I have a question about tonics and cleansing process.
Kathryn can you remind me of what you said during the workshop about thyroid and managing a decrease in medication. You were speaking to Joni is I recall correctly.

Found out this morning that my thyroid which was over active with a certain amount of medication is now under balance with less medication. I am charting my next step to re-balance.

In other news. I helped Caleb(4 1/2) to dowse for herbs for his next tonic. Kathryn has been making them up until now. It was a neat experience. His yes and no are different from mine and I was teaching him how to hold the pendulum still to see what the response to a specific herb is. This is a challenge for little arms and hands. He had tasted a number of the herbs that were interesting to him.

I have never taught a little person to dowse before. Caleb's dowsing was corroborated by my own - for my own understanding and peace of Mommy-mind. His intention is that the tonic support his creativity and give him greater ease with responding to big emotions.

My husband is doing the same today. We may make their tonics tomorrow. In Divine Timing. Grateful for this unique and amazing opportunity.

Cleansing events

Hi All,

I want to thank Kathryn again so much for writing about the cleansing events. It is helpful to have a better understanding. I have been having continueing itchies but tolerable and not anything as bad as at our last tonic meeting. Sometimes I awaken in the night to find myself itching and have given myself a few raw scabs. This seems to be lessening and I did not decrease the amount of tonic. I have kept up with 2 days of juice fasting per week and 2 colonics too. I keep getting guidance to use hot compresses with dilluted oils on my colon and liver.

When I did the 7 days juice fast with a colonic per day I was guided to do the hot compresses daily, twice on my kidneys as well. A day or so into this fast I was guided to do the gallbladder/liver flush from the "Seasonal Detox Diet" book. This involves drinking fresh apple juice and dandylion tea each day and at the close of 2-4 days you take an oil cocktail and lay on your right side on a hot compress with castor oil. The last time I did this I awoke in the middle of the night and thought I might throw up, vomit, have diarhrea or pass out. I had terrible hot and cold sweats. I was actually frightened. I stayed on the toilet and after about 1/2 hour of releasing I started to feel better and safe. I released about 20-30 gallstones. Yeah!

So this time I was not looking forward to that last night at all! My guidance told me to do castor oil liver packs the two nights leading up to the last night and also one on my kidneys. I did the cocktail and the castor oil pack on the last night. I slept really well. When I awakened I was disappointed thinking maybe it had not worked, had I missed something? But then later during my colonic I passed about 50-75 gallbladder stones!
I had made the intention for it to be accomplished with ease. I was so happy that my guidance had led me to a gentle resolution this time.

Happy cleansing everyone!

Cleansing Events

By now some of you on the custom herbal tonics have experienced some form of concentrated release, commonly known as a cleansing reaction, or--my preference--a cleaning event. These can take any number of forms, and some people do not experience them at all. What are they, and what can we do to make ourselves more comfortable if we have one?

First of all, we need to look at what is happening on a cellular level when we begin to take these herbs to regenerate our bodies. The cells that make up our bodies are surrounded with a tiny crystalline membrane called the basement membrane. When it is clean and healthy, the basement membrane acts as a communication antenna that picks up the frequency of our surrounding environment and relays it to the individual cell. Each cell then experiences a direct communication to the environment, and the world.

Most of us do not achieve this level of cleanliness within our cells by accident. If we simply follow the cultural direction in life, we will begin to develop sludge in the is basement membrane, and toxic accumulation in the cells themselves. The causes of this degenerative process are multi-layered and permeate every aspect of our existence. To name just a few:
  • Stress--creates a lot of by-products in our system that must be broken down by the liver and filtered from our blood by the kidneys. Any overload on these systems creates a back up of toxicity, which then must be stored in our cells and basement membrane to keep balance in the blood.
  • We take in so many toxic substances--from the air in our homes and workplaces filled with chemicals; from our foods, also filled with chemicals and synthetic ingredients.
  • Lack of exercise reduces the flow of lymph through our bodies. This results in stagnation and accumulation in the lymph fluid, once again creating a back up of toxic stuff.
  • Even the clothing we wear is made from petroleum based chemicals and treated with dyes and chemicals; the body creams, perfumes, soaps, lotions, and shampoos all contain toxic products that are absorbed through our skin every day.

And this is only the tip of the iceberg.

As our basement membrane becomes congested with toxicity, and our cells accumulate debris, we may not really notice any symptoms at all, or the symptoms may be minimal enough to just chalk up to "getting older". Gradually we will experience a diminished sense of well being and connection to our environment and our world.

When we begin to take adaptogenic herbs, these tonics work on a cellular level to clean out the basement membrane, release toxic accumulation from the cells, restore balance in the eliminative systems and organs, and open blocked and stagnant energy flows in the meridian system. They work gradually to accomplish these goals, sometimes taking several years to restore the body to a state of vibrant health.

As these toxins and congestion are expelled from the cells and basement membrane, they are dumped back into the blood stream to be expelled. If our kidneys, lungs, skin, or colon are working at a reduced capacity--likely dealing with their own version of toxic accumulation--we will experience a back up of major proportions in our blood stream.

This toxicity has to be cleared out to maintain balance in our blood. In this case, the expulsion of this toxic stuff may come through the skin (itchiness, burning, rashes, or breakouts), the lungs (phlegm and inflammation in throat, ears, nose, sinuses), the kidneys (burning with urination, increased urination), and the colon (diarrhea, constipation). In addition, these toxins being more concentrated in the blood, create inflammation and pain in tissues throughout the body. An achiness or flu-like sensation can be the result of these cleansing events.

If you find yourself experiencing a cold, upper respiratory infection, rashes, diarrhea, or any of these signs, and you have been taking herbs to restore health and balance, you are very likely having a cleansing event. Here are some things you can do to make these events pass more quickly, or to make yourself more comfortable as they are passing.

  • Take a colonic--or a short series of daily colonics. Enemas might help a little, but I really recommend that people shift from using enemas, which only get water into the very lowest part of the colon, to using a home colonic board. With a colonic, you can use 5 to 10 gallons of water at a time, and get the water all the way through the transverse colon--clearing and removing a huge volume of toxicity from the body in a very short time.
  • Reduce the dosage of your tonic or cleansing herbs, or eliminate them, for several days until your body catches up with the elimination process. Be sure to start up again as soon as you notice the symptoms subside.
  • Drink extra water to flush toxins out through the kidneys. For assistance to the kidneys and urinary system, drink water with fresh cilantro or parsley juice added, which will help remove congestion from the kidneys.

Though no one wants to experience this kind of cleansing, it is actually a good sign that our bodies are still in a healthy enough state to respond to the herbs and start housecleaning. Usually once we have been through this type of response, our bodies begin to feel better and we reach a state of increased health--greater endurance and energy, weight loss, and an increased attraction to the foods that will actually increase our health and vibrancy. This is the return of a ghigher frequency in the cells and basement membrane, and will impact our lives on many levels, opening a potential that otherwise would not exist. If we continue on this healing path, we will continue to experience choices in life that would not otherwise be available to us. And each of us will attract others, through our resonant frequency, that are seeking the wisdom we gain from walking through our lives with this commitment.

Signing Off For 7 Days

Hi to All,
Michael and I will be out of touch for the next 7 days. We are beginning our 7 day deep tissue cleanse today, and will be laying low for the next week. We wanted to let you all know that we will be only checking our e-mail once in a while. If you e-mail us during the week, we will see it eventually, but may not be responding through the cleanse!

I just want to thank you all who have participated with the first tonic support meeting--it was a great meeting and I feel so much energy from the connection we are co-creating together. On this past Thursday, Michael and I had appointments with two local people who are serious about reclaiming their health. Making tonics for them was so rewarding, as the local Nature Spirits were very active in the co-creative process, bringing several wild local herbs into the formulas.

There is so much support from the Earth, the Nature Spirits, and the ancient Chinese herbalists, for all of us who are walking the path of healing and ascension in this time. All we need to do is step forward and keep taking the actions to manifest our desires and intentions. The more we trust, the more we are supported in grace.

Hi All,
Just made my first tonic on my own. It took a lot of focus to have the time to do it. The spirits of the land and the Chinese Masters helped. I burned my left hand with tonic during the filling process. Any suggestions for treatment for my red, not blistered skin?

Thank You

Greetings! Thank you Michelle for this awesome blog. I've enjoyed feeling each of your presence through this avenue.
As for me, I just received my juicer and am about to order the herbs. I've been a little set back by money. But I am happy to report that I have not drank any coffee since returning from White Sage! I feel great. I have my own energy. I'm serving coffee at the cafe, but I am beyond the addictive pull. Now the desire/ habit to have sugar is beginning to fall away too. Even though I am not taking any tonic yet, my commitment is still intact and I feel my power building and my spiritual development is taking beautiful, wonderful strides forward.

I just completed a sacred journey to the mountain top where I live and received so much guidance. It was about developing my receptivity. Having no thoughts, turning off my mind and opening my eyes, nose, and ears. Becoming connected. obviously words fall short to describe it fully :)
An owl came to me and sat with me, swooped my hair twice flying low over my head. I am so honored and thankful for the journey, the learning, the path, and especially the company. Thank you all for being so inspiring to me and for co-creating a community where we can learn, love, laugh , and grow together!

Just want to say HUGE congratulations to Lindsey! So proud of you girl! You're amazing.
Liz ~you continue to inspire me with your dowsing ~ thank you
Rebecca ~ miss you and I'll be ordering parasite cleanses soon too :)
Michelle ~ so glad you have the nettles ~ let me know if you'd like more

Joanie ~ Tyler carried your pouch all hunting season and thursday morning he used it for the beautiful elk he harvested. He sprayed all around the animal and put cornmeal by his mouth and read the prayer, with much sobbing. Thank you for providing such a monumental tool that supports awareness of the preciousness of life. That will be the only meat we eat and will feed many people all winter. I am preparing the hide for drum/rattle making for us all.

Thank you Kathryn for lighting the way and sharing so generously.

Peace, Love and SO much Gratitude~

Joy of Making Tonics

I finished my next tonic today and it turned out so beautiful and delicious.  This time I yielded so much more than the last time, as I added more water to the receiver and filled the bottom.

I am so grateful and honored.

PS:  My percentage levels have risen in all areas except for Jing so far....

Love to ALL of you,
Michelle

Gratitude to the Teachings of K&M

I walked in and crashed on my bed, it's been a busy week, staring back at me is my gifts our last give away ceremony.  The thought came to me, we have all grown so much, at least I have.   I remember my first class back at DiamondHeart and when it came to the give way ceremony, I was nervous, unsure of what to bring and a bit anxious to receive.  Now we are easily giving and receiving and sharing such beautiful gifts of our hearts and the earth.

I am feeling so incredibly grateful and just felt like sharing.

Aho,

Michelle Lynx

Comments not working- anyone else?

I am having a hard time leaving comments again on other's posts. Is anyone else having this issue? This link below seems to describe the issue.

I would prefer not to open up my computer to accept all cookies in general. Michelle, can we move to a "full page" comment format? This might make it easier for comments if other are having comment challenges as well.

Connection via Information and Love

Hi Folks,
Looking forward to our class on the first Saturday in November. Kathryn can you clarify if the following is correct? Daylight Saving Time happens on Sunday, Nov. 6th at 2am. So our class should be at 9:30 AM Alaska Time/10:30 am AZ time on Saturday, Nov. 5th(not 4th).
I am still in process of finding time and focus to make the tonic. Have had interesting opportunities with my family's health recently - to say the least. All are currently well and/or recovering. Learning a lot these days about empowerment vs. enabling and speaking up for myself gracefully.
Sharing questions as a way to be in the conversation. I feel a desire to connect and not a lot extra energy/time to do it with.

Questions/Topics re: Tonic prep
1.Poria prep prior to use.
This has been complicating my tonic because -according to the notes it takes 4 hours of soaking and 2 hours of simmering. By the time that is scheduled and done I have lost the focus and time to actually make the tonic. I am finding that making a tonic is multi-layered process timewise. Perhaps after I do it a few times it will be smoother.
2. Clean bottles
Same planning process with boiling the bottles. They are on my counter upside down having been boiled. Is that clean enough? Also if I boil a bottle that still ends up with a couple pieces of old tonic stuck on the inside can I consider them clean enough for my family use? It is hard to get the old stuff out of the bottles. Bottle brushes anyone likes?
3.Ordering bottles, etc. Would love a list of supplies to order from
4.Making Higher quantity
If I want to make in quantity for use as a "juice" - how do I plan for the volume I want? Ex. several juice bottles worth- Would I dilute after preparing or use a lot of water to steam with. I remember Kathryn saying "don't change the volume of herbs much" in this case. Would like more clarity about this.

In Grace,
Kylara

Rainbow Warrior

I am done! I've completely finished Forrest Yoga Teacher training here in Houston!

It was physically intense, surprisingly fun and wildly rewarding, I highly recommend it to everyone!
I am fortunate that I was so well prepared from all the work I've done with Kathryn and Michael and our wonderful group of healers aka you all and I'm proud to say that I took my tonic (that I made in advance) every single day!

I got exactly what I came here to get, plus some unexpected delicious treats in self discovery. I am leaving here changed and with teaching skills that are priceless to me and the deep seeded confidence in knowing that I can teach and am an awesome teacher at that! Standing in front of a room still rattles my nerves but those feelings are no longer debilitating and I have the tools I need to transmute that energy and even change it completely, from terror to excitement! I feel so confidant in my skills as a teacher and know in my deepest core that I have valuable gifts to share with the world and I can hardly wait to get home and start sharing!!

From the very first day to the last we got up in front of a group of people and taught something we didn't know how to teach AND we had to sing, dance and make all sorts of weird gestures and noises while doing so. Day after day we were forced to conquer our individual and specific fears and limiting beliefs about teaching, failing and embaress ourselves and then we had the awesome opportunity to get over it.

All of this was done in ceremony, calling in the 4 directions and sacred ones every morning. We are all leaving here rattled, inspired and changed for the better. Eager to carry the Forrest yoga style out into the world and share this amazing medicine with others.

I feel so fortunate and blessed to have had this opportunity to work with Ana T. Forrest and her amazing team! The program was flawless and full of intent to mend the hoop of the people. We (our group) was given the tittle the rainbow warriors and I wear this name with pride!
I pledge to carry the message of Forrest yoga, all the incredible knowledge that Kathryn has bestowed upon me (which is in a class all it's own, I learned that again while here how rare and valuable your teachings are) and Food As Medicine out into my community and shine light on the dark to awaken human consciousness and planetary healing!

To all my brothers and sisters upon this awe-inspiring path, Aho
-Lindsey

PS I look forward to getting home and to start playing with my herbs, oils and tonics again!!

Miraculous News

Yesterday I talked by phone with my parents, who live in Mesa, AZ. My father told me he had some really great news for me, and I could not imagine what it could be.

Before I go on, I should let you know that my family had not expressed an interest in trying any of the cleanses or methods that Michael and I have been using for the past 15 years to advance and maintain our physical health. They have always been supportive, but never with any desire to become involved.

This past July, all of that changed when my sister came to White Sage Landing to initiate dietary and lifestyle changes that can change the course of her life from this point on. It was so wonderful to share our tools and foods with her.

Now, my father, who is about 85 years old, has decided to experiment with some of the suggestions in the Food for Ascension book. Six weeks ago, all on his own, he eliminated all dairy products, eggs, and red meat from his diet. He replaced all fats with cold-pressed olive oil. And in only 6 weeks, he has lost 11 pounds, and his blood pressure (which was very high) has dropped 40 points!

He just proved it one more time, that we are never too old to heal and regenerate! Thanks, Dad, for having the inspiration and desire for trying something new... and for sharing your story!

Dowsing for Jing and Chi

Hello all,

Since the "results" of taking the tonics are subtle and somewhat delayed (except in Vicki's case!), I had the idea to dowse for my initial Jing and Chi levels, on a scale of 0 - 100. I will dowse for my Jing level before I started the tonics, since this is the energy we are born with and which depletes during our lifetime (I'm very curious what mine is!). I will then track it with dowsing every now and then to see what is happening with my Jing. Just wanted to post this in case anyone else was interested in doing the same thing.

I use this type of dowsing before any fast or cleanse I do, testing the current level of vibrancy of each of my organs or body in general, and then several days into the fast, and then afterward. The results are always amazing, and I feel they are very accurate. I have even tested the degree of parasite infestation before and after a parasite cleanse. If anyone else decides to do this, I'd love to hear about it!

Gratitude...Rebecca

Congrats to Lindsey!

I wanted to let everyone know that Lindsey was awarded $20,000 this morning for her "innovative" business idea, "Food as Medicine!" She is still out of town at yoga school, so Kevin and myself have been representing her (and very busy doing so) the past week, but it has all been worth it! Congratulations to us all, and to spreading health and consciousness to western AK. I am so excited that the judges believed in her idea so much!

On a tonic note, I am glad that I've had mine to support me in this somewhat chaotic week. I have been taking it faithfully (2 Tbs. a day), and have managed to get pretty far on little sleep, waking up amazed each day at the amount of energy I had.

Thank you all for your support, and thank you Kevin for all of the amazing work you did to assist Lou (he was REALLY awesome).

Finally

Brewing Mullein hydrosol as I write.  So excited that the ones around my home have held on this long to offer them to this hydrosol.  Love this.  Thank you Kathryn for sharing this we all of us, it's such a gift.

Update!

I wanted to wait a full week before posting my progress with the remedy... yet am so excited I just can't wait another day! I noticed right away that since taking my tonic I have not had any hot flashes - either by day or night. I was guided not to take my usual assortment of tinctures while taking this remedy. While there are small amounts of them in the remedy, in comparison to what my daily intake was in the past - it just didn't seem (in my mind) logically possible for me to experience change so quickly. I thought it would at least take 3 days, even a week, before I would feel the results. These chinese herbs are freaky awesome!! (Yes, that's a good thing. LOL) Results were immediate. I did experience an underlying headache the first four days, and now that seems to have passed. I've also noticed my face detoxing too. I've been waking up with blotchy skin/break-outs of rosacea acne, and have been told that is due to the new facial creme I've been using (my creation). Which is also a good thing!

In short - Life is Good!

Connection

Whahoooo! I am breathing a deep sigh of relief. It looks like I am able to create a post. That's all for now. I am off to bed. Please send prayers for easy process for me and my family. My mom is doing well and has a ways to go to be independent again. I have been feeling a desire for balance. I need to my focus back on my self care. So glad to be in your company. Shen for Sugar Ray?

Hi,
I am guided to make tonics for my kids Raquel 12 and Taylor 22. Today I found out my wonderful dog Sugar Ray 13 wants one too! He wants his made with raspberries and served with his nightly treat of salmon/olive oil/flax/ buckwheat/kale. Wow, I wonder what benefits he will receive! Will it dowse SHEN???!! ha! because of his radiance? He is having some arthritis in his hips and having trouble jumping up into the back of the car and getting up in general. Mary and Raquel are doing energy work on Sugar Ray in the photo.

Michelle, thanks so much for creating the blog. It is so helpful! What a great way for all of us to connect and share!

Rebecca, thanks for the info on the crab apples and the film.
with love,
Liz

Hydrosols and a great documentary

My neighbor has a crab apple tree, and gave me permission to pick as many as I wanted yesterday. I'm not too familiar with crab apples, but they were so beautiful and I felt like they would enjoy being used for something. I picked as many as I could reach, and came home and made a beautiful distillation (thanks again Liz!) of crab apple juice. I added 1 qt. of water to the middle section, and the entire process yielded 4 "wine bottles" full! The hydrosol dowses very high, and if anyone has any info. on the nutritional benefits of crab apple, I'd love to hear about them - there is not much on the Internet. Nonetheless, I sense it is loaded with at least Vit. C, and think that a dropperful (or more) a day would be a great addition to my juices. Today, I am going to do the same thing with rose hips, as my own tree is fully loaded this year! I love using this distiller, the process is so easy and fun.

I watched "Forks Over Knives" last night, a documentary featuring the work and studies of T. Collin Campbell (author of The China Study), among other great researchers and doctors.  It was really impressive, and beautifully summarizes the benefits (backed by irrefutable research) of whole-foods, plant based diets.

I'm so grateful I have a group to share my passions and interests with, thank you!

Gratitude to Liz

Thank you so much to Liz, who loaned me her distiller for a couple of days (and to Kylara for offering). I was able to make my first tonic on my own yesterday, and the process was amazingly easy and fast. I came up with 1  3/4 qt. of tonic, and my dowsing was really specific. It was an amazing process and, like Vicki and Michelle, I set mine out last night under the full moon. It froze, so I am just waiting for it to thaw out so that I can take my first dose! During the entire process, I felt very connected to the Chinese Masters and the Plant Spirits...I felt almost like I was in a little "bubble" - it was very nice.

One interesting thing is that I was guided to use 2 carrots in mine, as well as other fruit and berries. I also wanted to share that Lindsey made a strictly vegetable tonic a few weeks ago, and it was delicious! It tasted similar to the tomato/pepper juice Maggie made several times at White Sage.

How long is everyone steaming/boiling their tonics for? I did mine for 30-40 minutes, but wondered if I could have gone longer?

Great idea Vicki about keeping a log for your tonics...I am going to do the same thing, complete with notes on any observations I make regarding the tonics. It will be interesting to go over it a year from now and see how things have changed.

With Love, Rebecca

My Heart is Flowing Gratitude

Today I created the most beautiful heart pink tonic.  The time presented itself on this day of the full moon and after spending the morning with Chinese herbs, Flower Essences, Essential Oils, Fruits and the distiller, my first "on my own" tonic was created and now sits in the Medicine Wheel awaiting the shine from Grandmother Moon.

Shortly after I finished, I received a call from Michael that connected more dots to my healing and filled my heart with gratitude, joy and Love.

I am humbly grateful to ALL of you for our connection and for this knowledge.

I deeply Love you ALL,

Michelle Lynx

Created My Tonic :0)

Hello Everyone,

Today was a very exciting day for me as I was finally able to pull out the distiller and create my new vibrational remedy. It was interesting in that the portions of chinese herbs were way smaller then what I dowsed for at White Sage. They tended to be in the 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon range. Yet it feels absolutely perfect! My soul was SO excited to create my tonic - I could hardly wait for it to complete. :o) The flavor this time is similar to a real sweet cough syrup. With strawberries, cranberries, cherries, and dates combined with peppermint oil, neem, and a drop of rose otto - it's no surprise it taste's that way. Of course, there are additional essences and tinctures added as well.

I decided to create a log of everything I dowsed to put in, along with notes that I felt the herbs were working for. Every herb made sense and will support that which I have been having issues with. My intention is to track my progress for future reference. I was also guided to place the tincture in the copper pyramid for 1/2 an hour, and then place it outside for two nights to receive the energies of the full moon. And is she ever a beauty!!

Many Blessings to You All & Thank You for the added Support through the Blog!

Enjoying the Blog

Hi Everyone,

I am finally home from a very long (and great) trip to Bethel, and am home for awhile now! I got online to order a distiller, only to find that the company is sold out until 2012 :( I can not wait to re-join you all in the tonic journey, and I think I will make myself some Kidney Renewal tonic to take until I can figure something else out.

I have been following everyone's posts while I was away (the e-mail notifications help tremendously!) and just wanted to get on and say hello. I'm so glad to be a part of this unique, amazing group.

Love, Rebecca

Euphoria with Tonics

Hello!

I did a ceremony for my tonic yesterday in the MW connecting to the plant spirits. My tonic is so delicious. Last night I asked if there was a message for me and the spirits of the plants of the Chinese master herbs answered. This seemed to be a collective spirit of the herbs that I purchased. I was told they will teach me. They went on to say this is the way to health, healing and ascension, happiness, well-being, euphoria and laughter. They said this was a trajectory to blossoming and to have full light in my life. That it will clear and activate my prana, my heart and make my physical body ring with bliss. Yeah! Thank you!!!

Blessings to all on your tonic walk!

Making Hydrosols????

Hello All,

I am wondering if the process is basically the same as the tonic only with the plant instead of fruit and such.  Meaning water in the bottom and receiver?  I am also going to harvest some OSHA root with my friend (she uses the root to make medicine) and wondering if I can use the plant to make a hydrosol without the root or include both?

Thank you,

Michelle

Clarify Tonic-Making Process?

Hi All,

I thought I would remember our process but I guess I was so excited. Now that I have started making my tonic, I am confused on parts of the directions. I would be grateful if someone can clarify this.

1. When we start do we put any water in the receiver pan or just in the bottom pan that is sitting on the stove element? I put a bunch of water in the lowest pan, perhaps too much. I also put 1 quart water (with the essential oils and environmental essence) in the receiver pan.

I am confused because step 4 of the instructions says to add 1 qt. water and the EO and FE to the receiver. Step 12 says to repeat checking the water level and simmering until the hydrosol equals one quart. Well, I started with 1 qt. water in the receiver pan.

2. How much water goes in the bottom pan?
3. How much water, if any, goes in the receiver pan?
4. Where do the essential oils and the flower essences go? on the fruit?

I would appreciate any help. Thank you so much!

Hydrosols Before Snow

Hello All,

I made 3 hydrosols with Horsetail, Lady's Mantel, and Comfrey. I have been hoping the plants would hang on until I received the distiller so I was covering them with row covers, etc. . The plants definitely did not look their best but connecting with the plant spirit I was instructed to go ahead with the hydrosols.

Even though I filled the bottom water resevoir, I only got about 3/4 wine bottle of liquid in the process. There was always lots of water in the bottom pan. I distilled some plants for about 1.25 to 1.75 hours until the plant spirit directed me stop.

The liquid came out not clear but colored. The Lady's Mantel was lavender-colored from the start. The comfrey was green. The horsetail is greenish brown. I am doing Yarrow now. I hope to do Labrador Tea.

Be really careful not to burn yourself when pouring the liquid out of the distiller. It is easy to do. Ouch.

I have never made a hydrosol before. If anyone has any suggestions on the process please tell us. Thanks!
with love,
Liz

Labels

Liz - many thanks. The labels are beautiful, and thank you Michelle for being the point person for this blog. I think I've found a little house in Eugene that will be available Oct 15th. I'm heading down there tomorrow to finalize the process. Everything has moved along in divine timing, releasing the old and starting to bring in the new in so many areas of my life. I've purchased the juicer and the herbs will be coming soon. I had an opportunity to speak with Daniel from Mehu Liisa while in Eugene and relayed what I remembered of the process with the juicer. He cautioned about not using enough water in the bottom level saying that it was really easy to let it boil empty and says the bottom will definitely melt if it gets hot enough and dry. Told him I would pass that on, but I'm not sure I had the right info for him, not having my notes with me. Can't wait to make my tonic.

Sharing Tools

Hello,

Liz sent me an email with her beautiful labels that she created for her herb jars. She asked me to share them with all of you.

On the right side of the blog there is a box labeled "Helpful Tools" click on "Shared tools" for the link to her form that can be downloaded, printed and so on.  This was a clean way to get all of you the form through the blog.

If anyone else has anything like this or any forms to upload, I am happy to do it, just shoot me an email.

Love and blessings,
Michelle

A few questions???

Hello Everyone,

I have been offline doing some body healing but while in that process my supplies can in. I have a couple of days till I can begin creating but very interested in hearing how it is going for all of you.

I am wondering what size bottles you have all ordered, was then one we made 16oz or 32oz.

With the EZlid bottles (like the ones Lindsay used for her berry tonic she brought), do they seal as tightly so they can rest on the shelf till opened or will they need refrigeration from the start?

Has anyone made a hydrosol from a local plant yet?

Cara, I haven't heard back from you so just let me know when you are ready and send your address.  I look forward to your Nettle Hydrosol.

Love to all,

Michelle

Prepared Rehmannia root

Hi
The prepared rehmannia root is the correct rehmannia to order. It has been cooked in wine and pounded flat. This process mellows the effects of rehmannia and makes it a very potent blood tonic, which is not the case with the unprepared rehmannia root. It should look black in color and smell a little winey.

The raw rehmannia root has never dowsed well for me, up to this point. It is harder to digest and assimilate than the prepared rehmannia root, especially for westerners.

Noticing a Trend

I have been on the tonics since around January. I have watched as the herbs that dowsed for me went from largely yin and blood tonics to including more yang tonics.

I recently dowsed for a new tonic again, and it came up all yin tonic herbs and blood tonic herbs with one qi tonic herb. I made it and have been taking it for over a week, and am feeling great, so balanced. It is so interesting how much the tonics change from month to month. I am experiencing a new type of balance that I have not had before.

I spoke with someone recently who has been using the tonics for about 6 months. He has diabetes and was reaching a point where the kidneys were degenerating very quickly. His main symptoms included night sweats, copious urination, and sugar in the urine. Was losing weight and not digesting well either. I got him on yin tonics. Month after month, I had to reassure him that the tonics were working behind the scenes, since he did not notice much change at first.

Just last week, he has had a breakthrough. The urination is more in balance, he feels better, and no longer feels that the kidneys are degenerating! He says all the symptoms have gone except the night sweats (which means he still really needs yin tonics!)

The danger right now is that when people feel better, they think they don't need to take the herbs any more. It is my pupose to help him understand that the regeneration has just begun, and the herbs can do so much more for him if he continues with them.

I thank you all for making this year long commitment. It will give us all twelve new reference points of working with these herbs over the course of a year. I encourage you all to share your process, what kind of herbs are dowsing, and what you experience as you take them. This will give us a similar experience as taking the herbs on our own for 12 years... Talk about the fast track.
How long after you take the tonic can you eat?

Mullein

Hello All,

I am wondering if any of you have used Mullein and what your thoughts are on making it into a hydrosol?  The only hesitation that I have is, there are tiny little hairs on the leaves that are known to cause irritation when used in a tea and it is recommended that it be strained.  It seems that because I will be steaming it, that those hairs will not make it into the hydrosol.  What are your thoughts?  I am also wondering about using the whole plant, leaves, stem and flowers. It is most common to use only the leaves and flowers, it is also common to hang the stalk to dry before using it but I feel that it would like to be used whole and fresh.  I would love to try it as it has such amazing healing properties when it comes to the lungs and bladder.

Thank you,
Michelle

Just got home tonight from Oakland. A health crisis with my daughter so I'm hoping tonics will work its way into her life. This site is unbelievably wholesome and beautiful. Can't wait to start the tonic. I had to wait till I got home.

Herb Order

Hi Everyone!

I miss you all already, and thank you Michelle for setting this blog up so quickly...it is beautiful! I just wanted everyone to know that I ordered all of the herbs yesterday (except Dried Tangerine Peel...I couldn't find it) from the website Kathryn gave us, and the total with shipping to AK was about $150 ($17 was shipping). I just wanted to give others an idea of cost. If anyone figures out how to order the dried tangerine peel (Qing pi), please let me know.

Looking forward to connecting with you all through this blog, and thanks again Michelle! Love, Rebecca
